The Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art... was wonderful!  We didn't even get to finish it.  I can't wait to go back with Cliff  and just spend the day there going through every inch of that place..

 

 

 

 

This was one of my highlights...I have a little dancer (syd) and this image of this ballerina is replicated on everything bags, notecards, posters....to finally see it in person was so exciting!  The worn burlap made to look like tulle and the silk ribbon on the back of her hair....what attention to detail...Degas was genius!

 

for any of you Mummy fans out there this tomb was inscripted with writings from The Book of the Dead....Sam wanted nothing to do with this as if I was going to be able to translate the inscriptions and bring back a mummy from the dead....

 

This is a must see stop on your NYC trip!!!

Seaport Village

 

 

 

 

This was a quaint little area in the big city...cobblestone streets maritime boats...Sam and I relaxed here looking at the bridges... ( I have another camera that I have yet to download with more pictures)

Macy's

Wow now this is a sight to see...think of our west coast Macy's...now theirs is nothing like it...it is so much better!  We went during their flower show....it was breathtaking!!

 

 

 

 

 

The entire first floor was showered in flowers...so refreshing from the normal department store visuals.

I could have spent the whole day exploring that department store it has so much history there!  But I could hear Cliff on the other end of the phone asking why I spent the whole day in department store...  My favorite part was the original wooden escalators...

 

 

 

 

We didn't make to all the floors but Sam made sure we stopped n the teen section...wood floors and so much character it felt like you were shopping somewhere else...That floor had the biggest formal dress section EVER and it had a live DJ mixing music.  How could we resist not buying anything?

Ellens STARDUST diner

Now this place was a riot...again we didn't go here for the gourmet food but more for the ambiance...apparently all the struggling actors work here while they are waiting for their big Broadway break...the wait staff breaks out in song it is hilarious!  The diner is in Time Square and was worth the visit!

 

 

Dylan's Candy Bar

Candy galore...think of a candy from back in the day and you will find it here!  Dylan is the daughter of the famous Ralph Lauren.  3 stories of CANDY!!  

  

 

 

 

See the chocolate cigerettes?  I think it is a DUTCH thing but Cliff and the girls love these things! All the candy you could think of and we walked out of there with  packs of cigs, some rock candy and a hot pink tank for Alexa (couldn't resist did I mention it was hot pink?)  

Serendipity

one of my favorite words, book when I was little, movie,  and yes.... restaurant!   Check my last year... January post of my trip to New York and you will remember that Cliff and I went here for my birthday! 

 

 

A frozen hot chocolate is what you need to order!!!  Pure heaven!  Dylan's Candy Bar is right on the corner...so pace yourself!   

Peanut Butter & CO in NYC

Oh my...if you know me you know I enjoy my peanut butter. We had ate at the Peanut Butter & CO right by NYU.  Sam was not loving me because she does not like PB (or any condiment..no ranch, no mustard and no ketchup) sometimes I wonder how she could be my daughter!   Sam ended up getting a grilled cheese..Scanning the menu I was in heaven with their custom peanut butter creations..dark chocolate peanut butter, white chocolate pb, maple pb...and so much more!  I chose the best one EVER!

  

 

OK let me break this creation down for you...scrumptious vanilla cream cheese on the bottom layer cinnamon peanut butter with raisins, and crisp tart green apples in between.

 

Washed it down with a grape soda...yum!!  One of my favorite stops in NYC!!  Loved it! 

Magnolia Bakery in NYC

 

If you are a Sex In the City fan you are aware of this fab bakery.  We went to the one in SOHO and the one two blocks from our hotel (didn't find that one out til later end of our stay)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pumpkin Cheesecake oh my!

 

This was a lemon keylime cheesecake...yum!!!

My next trip  I am getting one of each...a DOUBLE FUDGE BROWNIE and a LEMON BAR
